Tandem writing

Who knew this could be such a rewarding experience?

Writing two novels at once (admittedly they will be shorter than my usual epics) has been a damn good time. If I'm not in the mood for one, I can hop over to the other. At this point, both my current WiPs are at almost 20k words since the beginning of the year. Like WHAT?!

It's fun because while, in the back of my brain, the next scenes of Savage Sigil are unfolding, I'm drafting for Mercy. And vice versa. So, when I hit my keyboard, I've got words coming out.

Since making the decision to stop seeking an agent, I've found that my writing is coming so much easier. I'm not worried about impressing an agent or publisher, I'm just writing for my genre. Again, writing the books I would want to read. Now that I'm in control of my own destiny, I feel so much more in control of my own creative destiny. It's amazingly freeing.

I'm also reading! I've finished 7 books since the beginning of the year. I always start strong, so here's hoping I can keep it up. Right now I'm working on the Sookie Stackhouse books and Lore by Alexandra Bracken. I swear Bracken is so underrated it's scary.

I'm working through Joanna Penn's How to Make a Living with Your Writing as well. I have the workbook, so I've been noodling around with that. I find her take on author-entrepreneurship refreshingly honest and helpful. If you're looking into turning your written works into multiple streams of income as Joanna says, do look into her books and podcast. She's, honestly, amazing.

Well, my Monday has been super productive already. Back to work after nearly a week off, so I must shove off. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
